Iguazu Falls Travel: Foz do Iguazu, Brazil
Foz do Iguazu is a town in Brazil located in the extreme west of the state of Parana on the border with Argentina and Paraguay. The main sources of income of Foz do Iguazu are tourism and the production of electricity. The city is famous for its tourist attractions, attracting people from Brazil and around the world. Among them are the Iguazu Falls and the Itaipu hydroelectric dam.
In addition to the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls (located in the Brazilian Iguazu Falls National Park), there are some amazing sites to see in and around Foz do Iguazu. The dam of Itaipu is the first in size in operation in the world, and is a binational undertaking between Brazil and Paraguay. It is located on the Parana River on the border between the two countries, in the city of Hernandarias, 14 km north of the “Friendship Bridge” that connects these countries.
Located just a few blocks from the downtown of Foz do Iguazu, you’ll find a great spot for nature tourism – the Guarani Woods Zoo. You’ll learn all about the flora and fauna of this wonderful jungle region, and see numerous species of trees and animals. If you’re interested in a fun, family vacation you can also head to the Acquamania Aquatic Park – an attraction that includes 8 slides, 7 swimming pools and spacious entertainment areas.
